About Zscaler

Cloud security service that routes user traffic through its zero trust exchange for web security and private app access.

Zscaler runs security in the cloud between users and the internet or internal apps. Instead of sending traffic back to a central data center firewall, devices connect to the nearest Zscaler location, where web traffic is inspected and access to private applications is granted per app according to policy.

Its main services are Zscaler Internet Access, a secure web gateway with filtering, threat protection and data loss prevention, and Zscaler Private Access, which replaces a traditional VPN by connecting users to specific apps without putting them on the whole network. The company uses AI models for tasks such as classifying risky sites and suggesting access policies.

It suits organizations with remote staff and many locations that want to retire VPN concentrators. Plan the rollout around app discovery and policy design, and check how it handles your SaaS apps, certificate inspection and any traffic that must stay in a region.
